Big Dog Howl 5k

The first race in our Winter Series 6 pack is close at hand.

Distance: 5K
Course: 5K Course

Registration Start Time: 6:30 PM
Race Start Time: 8:00 PM
Cost: $30 Race Day: $35

Award Categories: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall, 1st masters, under 14, 15-19, 10-yr age groups up to 60+; all Male and Female categories
Best Costume!
T-Shirt: Yes, to be guaranteed a shirt be registered by October 16, 2019.

Description: Ever wanted to run in a race and no one know who you are? This is your chance to show us what you got – get creative and run fast because there may be something spooky out there in the dark! Our annual Big Dog Howl 5K will be held in Uptown Columbus again this year so come on out and enjoy a spooktacular good time!

Early Packet Pick Up: Friday, October 25 at Big Dog Running Co on Broadway from 12-6 PM

The Winter Series 6 Pack

We’re adding a new spin on the Winter Series this year!

The series will span from October to March, with 6 total races:

  • October 26,2019 – Big Dog Howl 5K  – 8 pm
  • November 23,2019 – Beat the Bird 5K – 9 am
  • December 21, 2019 – Big Dog Jingle 5K – 9 am
  • January 18, 2020 – MLK 5K – 10 am
  • February 1,2020 – Super Bowl 5K or 10K – 10 am
  • March 14, 2020 – St Paddy’s 5K – 6:30 pm

 

Registration Fees: $150 CRR Members; $170 Nonmember

Price includes entry into all races, shirt or goodie for races plus a Winter Series Shirt, chip timing, awards for individual races plus Celebration Party in March. There will be Awards for top 3 overall, Masters, winner in 10 year age groups – all male & female – based on a point system. Series participants will receive a pint glass for finishing each individual race. You MUST run to receive the glass. Glass will be given out at the end of each individual race.

Sizzling Summer Swag Party

Did you run the Summer Series? Are you Columbus Roadrunner? Would you like to join?

If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, we want to invite you to come join us for our Summer Series celebration!

We will have a Fun Run activity starting at 3pm, with food and awards following. If you’re looking to sign up for the Winter Series, you’ll be able to do that here as well!

There will also be some fun door prizes to give away!

Where: We will be meeting in the green space behind Big Dog Fleet Feet. Enter in the alley between Big Dog and Mabellas or by The Saltcellar on 1st avenue.

When: September 28, 2019 from 3pm to 5pm.

Sizzling Summer Swag Series

Sizzling Summer Swag Series LogoThe Summer Series is here again!

We’ve decided to change things up, just a bit. We want to help you complete your 12 races in 12 months.

As the name suggest, this is going to be the summer of swag. We’ll start out in June with a new race, the 3 Bridge 5K. Then we’ll move to July with the popular Big Dog Heatwave 5 Miler. In August, we’ll move to Lakebottom with the Lakebottom 5k. In September, we’ll finish up with the Nissan BD Labor Day Classic 10k.

Races include:
Saturday, June 8, 2019 3 Bridge 5K 8 am
Saturday, July 6, 2019 Big Dog Heatwave 5 miler 8 am
Saturday, August 17, 2019 Lakebottom Park  5K 8 am
Monday, September 2, 2019 Nissan BD Labor Day Classic 10K 7:30 am

Price includes entry into all races and Series Shirt. Point based Series. Points based on Series participants overall place in the race. Medal for running all 4 races.

Registration Fee:
CRR Member: $95
Nonmember: $115
Price includes: Registration fee, Summer Series shirt, race specific swag, and post race food/drinks

Awards:

MLK 5K & 1 Mile LOCATION UPDATE!!

There has been an change of location for the MLK 5K & 1 Mile run on January 19, 2019.

We will now start and finish at the Civic Center.

1 Mile begins at 9:30am.
5K Begins at 10am.

Packet pickup on Friday January, 18 2019 at Big Dog Running Co. 1200 Broadway – 12 noon to 6pm
Race day packet pickup and registration will be at the Civic Center – 8:30am to 9:55am

Awards will start at 11am.

Bathrooms will be available at the Civic Center.

Again WE WILL START AND FINISH AT THE CIVIC CENTER.

2019 Red Nose Half UPDATE

As some know, our Riverwalk is under water – we have been working on an alternate course and received the permit for the alternate course today. We have been busy measuring and getting ready to host YOU at our event! Thanks for your patience! Here is the information regarding the race:

Red Nose Half Marathon start time is 8 am EST

Start location: Broadway & 11th

Finish location: 11th & Broadway

Packet pick up Friday 1/4/19 from 12 – 8 pm at Big Dog Running, 1200 Broadway and Saturday 1/5/19 from 630 am – 7:45 am – CLOSES SHARPLY AT 7:45 AM

Look for entrance sign – one way in and one way out – enter at entrance sign and exit thru Big Dog Running.

Once you pick up your bib and shirt (if ordered & paid for) please make your way into Big Dog so we can keep the room clear.

Shirts – Pre-purchased will be available at packet pick up. Extras are 1st come – 1st served. We do not mail shirts.

Rest rooms at start & finish: 1) Big Dog Running, 2) Iron Bank Coffee 6 11th St, 3) 10 Port A Potties NOTE: we will start on time don’t get caught in potty line use the Port A Pot

Rest Rooms on Course: Port A Pot – at Mile 4.5/8.5 and Mile 6

Pacers – will have Yellow Shirts with following paces available: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00

Water & Powerade on course at following locations:

1) Chamber – mile 2.6/10.3

2) 28th St Park & Ride – mile 4.5/8.5 also port-a-pottie

3) CSU soccer field parking – mile 6.2 also several GU flavors & Cliff Shots

Water & Snacks at finish line for all participating – snacks located in median on Broadway

Parking locations: 1) Synovus garage – entrance on 1st, 2) Front Ave Garage 1028 Front Ave free parking only on 1st floor, 3) Bay Ave Garage #4 12th St , 4) River Center Garage 919 Broadway , 5) Trade Center Parking 801 Front 6) Street parking – do not park on Broadway from 11th to 12th or on 11th from Broadway to Front

Medals – 1st 1000 to cross finishline receive medal

Awards: 11 am – Median of Broadway on concert stage -Top 3 overall Male & Female, Top Male & Female Masters, Age Groups Male & Female top 3: under 14, 15- 19, 20-29, 30-39, etc to 70 & above

Medical – will be at start/finish and Roving on bike – if needed somewhere else on course – lead bikers & roving bikers along with volunteers at water stops can call for Medical.

Bikers – we will have lead bikers along with roving bikers – they are there for your safety.

Turnaround – there is a mat at the turnaround you must cross over it.

The course has been measured to certification standards but is not officially certified due to need to use alternate route.
