The Smiths Station Track club held the fifth running of the Fall Classic 5K in Smiths Station Al this morning with the 1 mile at 8:30 AM and the 5K at 9:00 Am in perfect conditions on their USATF Certified course and had 4 Alabama State Age Group Road Records broken. In the mile, Yolanda Taylor set a 16 year State record in 5:29.7, Jasmine Garcia set a 17 year old state age group record in the 1 mile in a time of 5:32.60 and Jessie Crouch set a 16 year old state age group record in 4:44.3. John Neill set a 20 year old state age group record in the 5K in a time of 15:06.43. David Marley of Albany Georgia and attending Columbus State University won in a course record time of 14:47.93. Kandace Smith also of Columbus State University won the female division in a fast time of 18:10.99. The next race will be January 24, 2009 With the mile starting at 8:30 Am and the 5K starting at 9:00 AM. Contact the Athletic Department JD Evilsizer for further information 706-562-1756.
